Recipe of the Week

Recipe of the week.

This week I would like to introduce to you Meat Bred. This recipe is easy to make, quick and you can be made it in advance. So you can prepare it in the morning before you go surfing or just enjoying the beach of Tamarindo, Playa Grande or whatever other beach at the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and when you come home you only have to bake it and you will have a nice snack or a quick meal.

The idea of Meat Bred is mixing minced meat with vegetables, tomato sauce and species. You have to add a spoon of flower, to bind the water from the vegetables. You can bake the bred preferably in the oven, like 40 minutes on 220 gr. Celsius. If you don’t have an oven you can also use the microwave; first 3 minutes on the highest level and after that 20 minutes on half level.

For vegetables you can use: bell pepper, mushrooms, celery, onions, garlic, avoid using vegetables that contain a lot of water. You also can add fruits like pineapple, papaya or mango. Use basic species like salt and pepper. Make it to your own taste like with herbs or spicy with hot pepper, curry, chili.

Eat the meat bred with baked or frit potatoes and a green salad.

Recipe of the week

When I came home from work at Coastal Property Management yesterday, I was hungry but didn’t want to be for a long time in the kitchen. So I made it easy for myself. I want to share this tastfull easy recipe with all of you who want to cook something good in a short time after a day of work, surfing, or enjoying the beaches of Tamarindo or Playa Grande.

Pasta with chicken in a white mushroom sauce

You need chicken filet, mushrooms, milk, flower, salt, pepper, oregano. If you want the sauce more tasty you can add garlic, fresh basil and partly white wine in stead of milk.

Cut the filet in blocks, wash the mushrooms and cut them in slices. Put olive oil and butter in a pan and let it get light brown. Add the chicken and let it get a color in the hot oil. Then add the mushrooms and let them cook a bit. Then add all the species, lower the gas and let this cook for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile you can cook the pasta and make a cucumber or tomato salad. Finish the sauce by adding flower while you stir well and finally enough milk (and wine if you wish) to give the sauce the thickness you want to.

Tennis at Roland Garros

This weekend is the Finals weekend of Roland Garros. The Womens final just finished in a victory for the Russian Maria Sharapova in 2 sets, 6-3, 6-2 over the Italian Sara Errani. Errani started very nervous. That leaded to a 4-0 lead for Sharapova in the first set. Errani recovered in the 5th game but could not avoid the win of the first set for Sharapova. The  second set was more exciting. Maria broke Sara 3 times, Errani broke Sharapova once and 4 games ended after multiple deuces. Finaly Sharapova was more effective in her shots. Sharapova is again world number 1 due to her result on Roland Garros.

Do not miss the mens final tomorrow!! Again it will be a classic one fighting Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic. Rafa will try to win Roland Garros for the 7th time in his career while Nole will try to win the only Grand Slame he did not win up till now. The match starts at 7.00 am Costa Rica time. So go surfing a little bit later than normal or choose for a quiet day only on the beach of Tamarindo, Playa Grande or Playa Avellanas.

Recipe of the week

After a day of surfing from the beach of Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Playa Avellanas or what ever nice beach you are at the Pacific Coast, you may want to make something simple strong and different for dinner. Try this recipe of Sate with peanut sauce.

Sate are blocks of good pork meat or chicken, tacked on a pin and cooked on the grill or barbecue. Instead of meat you can also use shrimps.

For the peanut sauce you need

1/2 cup of peanut butter, 1/8 cup tomato sauce, 1/8 cup sweet ketchup or salsa china, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, hot pepper sauce, 3 spoons brown sugar.

Mix all ingredients together. If it is mixed properly you add water little by little up till the sauce has the thickness you want it to have. Then you cook it slowly. Stay with it and stir every once and a while because it burns easily.

Eat the sate with rice and a nice green salad.

Look for CPM on Shacked.org

Shacked.orgCoastal Property Management properties will now be carried on start up, Shacked.org.  Shacked is the brainchild of Ian McDonnell, a surfing buddy of Eddie’s that frequents Playa Grande and other surf spots in Costa Rica.

Getting “shacked” is surfer slang for getting into the barrel of the wave.  The site focuses on connecting surfers with lodging in popular surf destinations worldwide.

Shacked.org is still in its beta testing phase, but looks great so far.  We look forward to seeing the site grow and connecting surfers internationally with the fantastic properties available for rent in popular Costa Rica surf destinations such as Avellanas, Pinilla, Langosta, Tamarindo and Playa Grande.

Green Season Pricing Arrives

Did you know that Guanacaste is actually quite pleasant in May, June, July and August? Usually, at least a couple of weeks in Tamarindo are dry in July during the mini-summer.

However, green season prices from Coastal Property Management start in May. Why not take advantage and bring the whole family down? You will see all of the flora and fauna in full bloom! You’ll have sunshine in the morning and perhaps scattered showers in the afternooon.

Heavy rains do not typically come to our area until September.

You won’t find them on our Tamarindo site, but we just added Villa Olivia and Casa Mirage to our inventory in Playa Grande.  They are both beachfront homes that are fantastic for large groups.

TripAdvisor Rates CPM Excellent Again!

Congratulations to all of the staff from Coastal Property Management. TripAdvisor has rated us excellent again based on our tenant reviews from 2011. We continue to have a rating of 4.5+/5.0 and seek to improve every year.

Many reviews were of our Tamarindo rentals, but don’t forget that we have great properties for rent in Playa Grande, Hacienda Pinilla and Flamingo as well.

CPM Moves to Google Calendars

Costa Rica Rental CAlendarAt CPM we always try to use technology to the fullest to book.  One challenge with working with all of the marketing tools that belong to CPM across various platforms has been maintaining calendars.  Multiply the number of properties we book for by the number of sites our properties are listed on and you get an idea of the scope of that work.

Google Calendar gives us the ability to place one Tamarindo rental calendar across many different sites that belong to us but also our booking partners and owners can integrate that calendar as well.  We can update bookings across our Hacienda Pinilla, Playa Grande, Tamarindo, Coastal Property Management, and other partner sites all at once.

Owners that use Google Calendar personally can also pull their units booking calendar into their Google Calendar for easy access on smart phones, etc.

Please contact us if you would like to connect a vacation rental unit’s calendar in your site.
