Recipe of the week

When I came home from work at Coastal Property Management yesterday, I was hungry but didn’t want to be for a long time in the kitchen. So I made it easy for myself. I want to share this tastfull easy recipe with all of you who want to cook something good in a short time after a day of work, surfing, or enjoying the beaches of Tamarindo or Playa Grande.

Pasta with chicken in a white mushroom sauce

You need chicken filet, mushrooms, milk, flower, salt, pepper, oregano. If you want the sauce more tasty you can add garlic, fresh basil and partly white wine in stead of milk.

Cut the filet in blocks, wash the mushrooms and cut them in slices. Put olive oil and butter in a pan and let it get light brown. Add the chicken and let it get a color in the hot oil. Then add the mushrooms and let them cook a bit. Then add all the species, lower the gas and let this cook for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile you can cook the pasta and make a cucumber or tomato salad. Finish the sauce by adding flower while you stir well and finally enough milk (and wine if you wish) to give the sauce the thickness you want to.

Tennis at Roland Garros

This weekend is the Finals weekend of Roland Garros. The Womens final just finished in a victory for the Russian Maria Sharapova in 2 sets, 6-3, 6-2 over the Italian Sara Errani. Errani started very nervous. That leaded to a 4-0 lead for Sharapova in the first set. Errani recovered in the 5th game but could not avoid the win of the first set for Sharapova. The  second set was more exciting. Maria broke Sara 3 times, Errani broke Sharapova once and 4 games ended after multiple deuces. Finaly Sharapova was more effective in her shots. Sharapova is again world number 1 due to her result on Roland Garros.

Do not miss the mens final tomorrow!! Again it will be a classic one fighting Rafael Nadal against Novak Djokovic. Rafa will try to win Roland Garros for the 7th time in his career while Nole will try to win the only Grand Slame he did not win up till now. The match starts at 7.00 am Costa Rica time. So go surfing a little bit later than normal or choose for a quiet day only on the beach of Tamarindo, Playa Grande or Playa Avellanas.

Look for CPM on Shacked.org

Shacked.orgCoastal Property Management properties will now be carried on start up, Shacked.org.  Shacked is the brainchild of Ian McDonnell, a surfing buddy of Eddie’s that frequents Playa Grande and other surf spots in Costa Rica.

Getting “shacked” is surfer slang for getting into the barrel of the wave.  The site focuses on connecting surfers with lodging in popular surf destinations worldwide.

Shacked.org is still in its beta testing phase, but looks great so far.  We look forward to seeing the site grow and connecting surfers internationally with the fantastic properties available for rent in popular Costa Rica surf destinations such as Avellanas, Pinilla, Langosta, Tamarindo and Playa Grande.

Costa Rica Comes Out on Top at the Central American Surf Championships

After five years of competing in the Central American Surf Championship games in a variety of different countries, Playa Hermosa hosted the championship last December.

Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala all had competitive teams registered to compete for the championship. In order to welcome these guests and competitors, there was a Parade of Nations down Main Street of Jacó and a “sand ceremony” where each participating country combined sand from its beaches.

After a long battle for the title between many world renowned surfers, Costa Rica came out on top with a total of 13,085 points. Following in 2nd place was El Salvador with 8,850 points and not far behind them was Guatemala, finishing in 3rd place with 8,544 points.

Although Costa Rica won by a fairly large margin, José Ureña, President of the Federación de Surf de Costa Rica, stated that El Salvador and Guatemala had definitely stepped up their games this year.

Each year the Central American Surf Championships are hosted by a different participating country and next year it will be held in Guatemala during the months of February and August.
