Panaderia La Principal Opens (At 6AM!)

Panaderia La Principal

If you are like me, the sun comes up and you wake up. That’s usually around 5:30AM here in Tamarindo. Apart from a few stragglers trying to find a bed after a rough night on the town, the area is pretty quiet and there is no place to get anything to eat or a coffee. Subway and Cafe Nari open at 7AM.

Now Tamarindo bakery, Panaderia La Principal is open for business in the space near Voodoo Lounge and the Kid’s Park that at one time was a steak house.

Panaderia La Principal is the same bakery that is located on the corner in Huacas, and they serve up all kinds of pastries including different types of empanadas, cangrejos, etc. The food is excellent and I love that it is open to grab a coffee on the way for a surf.

Elevation Cafe Opens

Elevation Cafe, owned and operated by former 4 Seasons Toronto chef, Lane Patrick just opened in the spot formerly occupied by Olga’s Coffee Shop on the road to Langosta. Elevation has a gourmet breakfast menu and some nice lunch options. During low season it is only open at night as a wine & tapas bar on Fridays and Saturdays. They also have many specialty drinks including a number of martini options.

Upstairs you’ll find Rain Doll, a small boutique with women’s clothing and a few must haves for Tamarindo living.

For those that didn’t know, Olga’s has moved to occupy Voodoo Lounge during the mornings.

There is also a new French bakery open in Plaza Tamarindo facing High Tide surf shop. They have some great salads. Name coming soon!
