Seasons Tamarindo

Seasons (By Schlomy) (Tamarindo Map Blue 10)

Seasons is a restaurant opened by Chef Schlomy in the renovated Hotel Arco Iris. The menu is Mediterranean Fusion with excellent seafood options including tuna sashimi, which is prepared with sesame oil, ginger and scallions. A great entrée option is the filet mignon. There are also vegetarian options like couscous and pastas. Tequila shrimp is a nice seafood option. For dessert, the white chocolate mousse and the crème brule are both excellent. Seasons is located in the back of Hotel Arco Iris on the Pasatiempo road. It is easier to turn right and go up the hill and then turn right again to park closer to the restaurant.

Are you familiar with hot wings and football season? If so, Long Boards is the place to go, amazing BBQ, pork chops, ribs, beef brisket, etc. There are four plasm TVs for enjoying sports. The owners, Brian and Stephanie, make the experience wonderful with their good service. Long Boards is on the way to Langosta.

Voodoo Lounge

Voodoo Lounge is a nice restaurant with a large outdoor dining area out back. They have Latin Music playing Tuesdays and Thursdays, so you can practice your dancing skills. Voodoo Lounge is located just past BAC San Jose on the left on the way to Langosta.


La Baula Pizzeria (Tamarindo Map Blue 7)

La Baula is probably Tamarindo's most popular restaurant. The restaurant specializes in pizza's that only come in small, medium or large. The crust is thin and a little bit crunchy. A hungry person can eat a whole one alone. Most pizzas are priced from $7 to $9 US. House specialties include "The Baula," which is sort of a supreme. The Puttanesca is also excellent with anchovies and capers. The Hawaiian and The Jalapeño are also good options. La Baula also has an excellent heart of palm salad as well as a few other menu items. There is a full bar serving many good drinks including mojitos, wine selections and beers. There are also always fruit smoothies available. Ask your server which smoothies are fresh that day. For dessert, La Baula has awesome ice cream fresh made in the area. The coconut ice cream is excellent. Another cool thing about La Baula is the ambiance. The restaurant has a really nice open floor plan and a nice play structure for kids in the outside dining area. It is definitely the best restaurant as far as quality of food for a good price. La Baula is located in the center of Tamarindo on the loop road behind Pasatiempo Hotel.

La Laguna Resto Bar

La Laguna Resto Bar is a beachfront dining experience located on the north end of Playa Tamarindo. They serve Costa Rican fusion. Try this restaurant in you are interested in sampling Costa Rican cuisine to the fullest. The bar has a great drinks menu and serves tapas. The restaurants has an international flavor with weekly specials constantly changing. Seafood and great beef dishes are definitely worth trying. The restaurant is open from 4PM to 10PM Monday through Saturday. Stop in and say hi to owner Alicia Repetto!

Dragonfly is the creation of Tish Tomlinson, an American who moved to Tamarindo with the dream of opening her own restaurant. The restaurant is open air with many dishes being cooked in a kitchen open to the dining area. There is also a bar with full drink menu. The dishes at Dragonfly can best be described as fusion. There is often a seared tuna special with wasabi aoli. The Thai beef with noodles is excellent as well. Fish Cakes with a polenta base are always available. The seafood pasta is very good as well. There is also a tenderloin salad that is excellent. Appetizers include spicy shrimp roles and other savory items. Dragonfly is located in the center of Tamarindo on the loop road behind Pasatiempo Hotel. Prices are on the low side of expensive, but well worth it for the quality of food served.

Olga's Coffee Shop Tamarindo

Olga's Coffee Shop

Olga's Coffee Shop is a favorite of locals. Olga is the proprietor with Sadie being her ever present assistant. They serve a wide variety of coffee and coffee drinks. They also have nice breakfast choices such as bagels with salmon and various types of omelettes and huevos rancheros. Olga's is open in the morning in a space she shares with Voodoo Lounge.


Nogui's (Tamarindo Map Blue 12)

Nogui's is Tamarindo's oldest restaurant. It is located on the beach at the end of the circle. It is a local favorite for breakfast. You can get ice coffees, great fruit smoothies, a fruit sandwich, and "The Rotonda," which is a sort of open faced breakfast taco with egg, avocado, bacon and pico de gallo. Nogui's is also open for lunch and has an excellent heart of palm salad, good burgers, sandwiches and other options.


The Beach Club

The Beach Club is an upscale outdoor dining experience beneath shade trees on Tamarindo Beach. You can enjoy a cocktail on one of the day beds or sit down for a full meal. Favorite dishes include the seafood pasta and the turkey burger. There is a full bar and nice wine selection as well.


Gil's Place (Tamarindo Map Blue 9)

Gil's Place is located underneath the Tamarindo gym and operates for breakfast and lunch. Gil specializes in Mexican food via the states. The breakfast burritos are awesome and huge. The "Killer Gorilla" lunch burritos are huge and come with steak, chicken, fish or shrimp (when available). There are also quesadillas, flautas, nachos, guacamole, pico de gallo and salads. Gil is usually working the restaurant himself so be sure to say hello to him. Prices are reasonable.

Gil's Place is located on the Pasatiempo road about 5 blocks inland from the beach.


The Surf Club (Tamarindo Map Langosta Part Blue 2)

The Surf Club is a sports bar that has some basic bar food as well as a full bar. It's a good place to go to watch sports including American football. It has also has some nice equipment including two pools tables, a ping pong table, a foosball table, and two dart boards. The buffalo wings are excellent. The Surf Club is located on the road with the supermarket on the back side of the Langosta loop.

Cafe Nari (In front of Diria Hotel, Tamarindo Map Blue 4)

Cafe Nari is a small restaurant associated with the Diria Hotel. They serve an excellent tico breakfast with gallo pinto, cheese, tortillas, eggs, plantains and a cappuccino for $4.50. There are also pastries to choose from. At night, there is a pasta bar that is all you can eat with a glass of wine included.
