Tamarindo Map
Map of Tamarindo Costa Rica
Understanding roads in Costa Rica is difficult. Tamarindo roads have no official names. That means directions are given based on Tamarindo landmarks. Unofficial Tamarindo road names include: "Calle Pasatiempo" (road that Pasatiempo Hotel is on) "Calle Principal" (the paved road that comes into town and ends at the beach front circle) "Calle Langosta" (the road that starts at Tamarindo Plaza and goes to Langosta and around the loop) Most of the other roads don't have common names but are just referred to based on what landmarks are on them. If you remember that the Pacific Ocean is on the west side of Tamarindo and the whole town only goes about 6 blocks inland at most, it's pretty hard to get lost. The paved road into town ends at the circle on the beach. Everything else is dirt minus a few concrete roads that do not connect and make driving some of the steeper hills easier. Langosta is the name of the beach on the southern end of Tamarindo that starts after Punta San Francisco. It's also the name of the area at that beach. Langosta is actually a peninsula with a large mangrove area behind it and the main road into Langosta is a big loop. The area around the language schools is sometimes referred to as the language school neighborhood and also is called "Barrio Los Italianos." The steep road up to some of the mansions including Villa Paraiso is sometimes called the Leo Loco road as one of the homes is called that. Many of the mansions on Langosta Beach sit on a smaller loop off the main one that is referred to as Millionaire row. |
